Moody in Maine

Our time at Narrows Too had unfortunately come to an end. After saying some sad "see you laters", we began our trip to Moody Beach in Southern Maine. There seems to be a weird calmness whenever we arrive to a new campground, especially after leaving friends. It's as though we're not really sure what to do with ourselves. The girls bummed around and were cranky for a few days and I focused on trying to get us back into our normal school routines. It wasn't long before we realized the beach was a short one mile walk from the campground and BONUS, there was a bike lane the majority of the way!

Moody Beach was magical. I can't think of any other way to describe it. We did have to time it just right though and go at low tide. It was the only beach we've come across that makes the beach directly in front of the beach houses private, allowing home owners their own little slice of paradise to enjoy. It made me love it there so much more! People invest their life savings on ocean front property- they should have a right to a little slice of the beach without people blocking their view! For the public though, it means no exploring at high tide. The tide rises all of the way up to their private beach so the public has to wait for the tide to start going back out before they can enjoy the beach, which we had no problem with. Low tide is our favorite!

I mentioned in a previous blog that we knew a ton of people who headed to Maine this Summer, but that we kept missing everyone. We received a message one night from some friends we met in the Florida Keys saying they were one state away and that they were going to reroute a little so they could meet up with us! We only got to spend a couple of days together, but the kids fit SO much in in that short amount of time. At the end of our time together attitudes were starting to emerge and I think all of the parents were ready to drop. It was such a fun couple of days and we're so incredibly thankful we got to spend some time with their sweet family again.

Imagine my surprise when I received a text from friends we made at the previous campground, saying they were less than two hours away and wanted to get together! When I tell you Maine was good to us, I truly mean it! We planned a picnic lunch day that involved a fierce soccer game and ended with a U-pick experience at a local farm.

It was time to part ways again and the next day would begin a series of long travel days as we started to make our way to Colorado. The trip to Colorado would be the longest, most emotional, most draining trip we've had in the past year. Stay tuned and we'll take you along for the ride.
